I do like to use a bit of color, which doesn’t affect the parsing process, and I format the resumes to be easy for a human to read, as well as the parsing software. It is for those reasons that the resume formatting I use is fairly simple – one column, no graphs, no text boxes, clear section headers, reverse chronological order. The challenge is that it is virtually impossible to know for sure which companies are using what ATS technologies and how long it’s been, if ever, that they’ve been upgraded. Really old parsing software requires the name of a company, a job title, a set of dates and at least 25 words to recognize an entry as a job, for example.Īlternatively, the company may have purchased access to ATS in the cloud, which may have be upgraded yesterday with the newest AI technologies and advanced parsing abilities. If the system never broke, or if they have in-house developers that can patch up the 15-year-old software and keep it running, they may have never upgraded or changed it. When they first came on the market, companies would spend tens of thousands to buy and install the software and then get HR trained on the system. Those experiences have taught me a great deal about resume parsing and I format the resumes I write specifically with parsing in mind.Īn important consideration to keep in mind is that parsing software and ATS have been around for years. I’ve worked with the team at HireAbility, as well as a company called Preptel, who was, for several years, also working with three of the parsing software makers on a resume optimization product that I thought showed promise, but that ultimately didn’t get funding. There are only a handful of major companies (DaXtra, HireAbility, Hiretual, SOVREN and Textkernel) that make resume-parsing software. When the parsing software sees something familiar, they place that content into the right spot in your applicant file. The algorithms start at the top of the resume and look down for things they’ve been programmed to look for, like your name, phone number, education, etc. What is resume parsing software? It’s a bunch of algorithms meant to look for certain elements in the data stream that begins when you hit the resume upload button to apply for a job. I’ve discovered that most do-it-yourself writers don’t realize that the pretty resume template they’re considering using won’t reliably get their summary/profile, experience, education and/or certification sections into the employer’s ATS. While I predominantly write resumes for people using the resume format that I’ve evolved over the years (which, of course, works just fine with parsing software), I also provide resume critiques and templates to those seeking do-it-yourself options. They acknowledged this issue and yet, two years later, nothing has changed. While talking with them, I shared my concern that about 95% of the resume templates on the Microsoft website do not work with applicant tracking systems (ATS). A couple of years ago, a member of the Microsoft Word Template team reached out to me after seeing an article I’d been quoted in in the Seattle Times. So, you followed all our advice and yet the update is taking AGES! Perhaps your iPhone appears to have frozen, or the update is stuck near the end. If your iPhone doesn’t run the new version of iOS, you might want to check our roundup of the Best iPhone deals so you can save money while bagging yourself a shiny new device. If those points don’t apply to you, try installing via the Finder as we detailed above. Apple required your iPhone to be plugged in or your battery to be above a certain level in order to update. As we said above, you need Wi-Fi, but there are workarounds. Your phone might be too old to run the latest version of iOS.Inevitably someone you know will see it sooner. There can be a delay before the big yearly iOS update appears. We run through fixes for the most common issues encountered while installing a new version of iOS below. Unfortunately, as easy as an iOS update should be, and even if you have done all the preparation recommended above, there can be problems. Grab a copy of the iOS you are updating from (if you can): It may be comforting to have the option to revert to the version of iOS you updated from, although Apple doesn’t make it easy to downgrade iPhone software. Also, check it’s a safe network–we don’t recommend you do this over hotel Wi-Fi, for instance. Connect to WiFi: Make sure you’re downloading over Wi-Fi, not via cellular, or you may end up running out of data.Plug your iPhone into a power supply: iOS won’t install if your battery is low.We have advice about ways to save space on an iPhone. If you still don’t have enough space, iOS will also offer to temporarily remove some files for you. If you don’t have a spare 20GB or so on your phone then delete some apps to make room–you can reinstall them afterwards as you already own them so they are associated with your account. Make some space on your iPhone: You will need a fair amount of space available for the update. In the past people have lost data like old SMS messages and photos during an update, so we can’t emphasize enough how important this step is! We explain how to back up an iPhone here. Back up your iPhone: You can do this using iCloud, or via the Finder on a Mac or iTunes on a PC.How to get your iPhone ready for an iOS updateīefore you update iOS, we recommend that you do the following: See our list of every version of iOS where you can see the latest versions and how long Apple supports iPhones for. Expect this step to take a while, especially if it’s on the night the software arrives! Your iPhone will then shut down, start up, and begin to install the software update. Now wait while your iPhone Verifies Update.Once the download has finished you will receive a notification that the update will install.Your device will then move onto Preparing Update, which also can take a while. In our experience this is very far from the mark: the reality can be double or even triple what this estimates! You can at least carry on with other things while the download happens. You’ll see an indication of how much time it is likely to take. Your device will download the update in the background.Enter your pin and agree to the terms and conditions. If an update is available you will see it.iOS will check if there’s a new version if there isn’t, you’ll see the message with the software version and “iOS is up to date.” Sometimes there’s a bit of a wait until the software becomes available, especially on a launch day. Before you begin, we strongly recommend that you back up your iPhone. If you are wondering how iOS 16 and iOS 17 compare read iOS 16 vs iOS 17: Why the next iPhone update is bigger than it seems. Another reason to hold off updating straight away is that it can be wise to wait a week or so until Apple issues iOS 17.1, which is usually a fix for any bugs that arrive with the first iteration. This means the process can take a lot longer and be more frustrating than it would otherwise be. First, on the day a major iOS update arrives, Apple’s servers can become overloaded. There are a few reasons why you might want to wait a little longer. Once iOS 17 is available you may want to quickly install it. The further into the testing process, the less risky it becomes to install the beta, but the beta process continues after the full version so if you want to avoid downloading buggy betas as Apple continues testing new features it’s worth removing yourself from the beta testing. We explain how you can do that in How to install the iOS beta on your iPhone. Those who couldn’t wait until that date were able to join the Public Beta program and install iOS 17 as early as June (or July for the Public Beta). Babcock introduced Mahjong Solitaire to America by creating a simplified form of the game based on the Chinese classical version.

Great! As first step I recommend to upgrade your CHIP OS. Now you can disconnect CHIP from your PC, connect it to the power adapter and to the printer! Installing CUPS and AirPrint on your CHIP Assuming you have a password protected network, you can connect with with the following command: $ nmcli device wifi connect '(your wifi network name/SSID)' password '(your wifi password)' ifname wlan0 The output will list available access points. In the terminal, type $ nmcli device wifi list Step 2: List available Wi-Fi networks and connect to the proper network More details are available here.Īt this point in time you are ready to connect your CHIP to the WIFI. Defaults are username root and password chip. Now use screen to connect: $ screen /dev/tty.usbserial 115200 That one is your CHIP! (be careful to use a USB cable that is not only meant to transport power). Now connect your CHIP to the USB port, wait 30 seconds or so that the boot procedure complete and repeat the command, the list should include a new device. Step 1: Connect to CHIP using the USB Serialįrom your terminal, list all the serial devices: $ ls /dev/tty* I don’t have any USB keyboard, so to configure CHIP, I had to connect it to my Mac and use the USB port as a serial port. Total cost: 18$ (actually I recycled the power adapter and the printer cable, so only 9$). 1 USB A-B Cable (to connect to the printer to chip).1 USB Power Adapter (with detachable cable, so I could use it also to connect it to my Mac).except that was not yet shipped (it was a kickstarter), it was perfect, for 9$ you get:Īnd here is how created my small print server: Finally, digging into internet i found C.H.I.P. (At that point in time, Raspberry PI Zero was not yet out – around $18 for the board plus a 4GB microSD and a wifi dongle – and you still need the power and usb cable). Then, in January 2016, I started figuring out how to build one myself, and started thinking about a Raspberry PI, but also in that case, including the WIFI shield, the price would not have been cheap. But it is ain’t cheap (45$) and it turned out it has not AirPrint server… should I buy an Apple Airport Express to do that?! 99$ no way □ Something like TP-LINK-TL-WPS510U seemed to be just perfect. The simpler solution would have been buying a WIFI print server. So basically how do I convert it to my USB Printer into a WIFI AirPrint printer? XEROX 6130N was born before AirPrint, so it does not support it, and given that often I read documents over my iPad, it would be nice that I don’t have to move to the PC to print them when needed.I don’t want to get a wire from the router to the printer (2 floors are between them).I don’t want to move the printer close to the router. It is actually also an ethernet printer, but In my home office, I happen to have a XEROX 6130N : it’s a bit old, but works perfectly. The game began as a project that could have moved in any direction, according to Topala. The first video game he produced under RobTop Games was Boomlings, a puzzle video game released on 5 November 2012, for mobile devices, Topala continued to produce video games, including Memory Mastermind (2013) and Boomlings MatchUp (2013). Topala decided to work alone, founding RobTop Games in 2012. He later abandoned his course because he became more interested in the video game industry. On 6 June 2010, Topala created his first video game, Bounce Ball Thingy, on Newgrounds, developing it while he was at university studying civil engineering. Geometry Dash was created by Swedish video game developer Robert Nicholas Christian Topala (born 23 February 1987), known professionally as RobTop. There are four of these in the main game as of Update 2.2. These levels differ from the automatic side-scrolling featured in regular levels, and feature components used in platformer games. In update 2.2, the platformer mode was released. In approved user-created levels, each difficulty rewards a certain number of stars upon completion. The auto difficulty is reserved for 'auto' levels which do not require input for completion. User-created levels can be categorized into 12 difficulty ratings, including five of the ratings used in official levels. The creator of a level, its players and the game's moderators can influence this decision. Some custom levels have a specific difficulty determined by Topala. Changes made after verification will render the level unverified again. The creator must complete their level with all user-placed coins in normal mode before it can be uploaded: a process known as verification. The full version of the game features the ability to upload and download user-created levels. Players may also use several shops that use various types of in-game currency to acquire different icons. Players can earn achievements that unlock rewards, such as icons or colours. Levels are categorized into six difficulty ratings: Easy, Normal, Hard, Harder, Insane, and Demon (which also has five sub-categories: Easy Demon, Medium Demon, Hard Demon, Insane Demon, and Extreme Demon). Each level grants rewards upon completion. Three require a specific number of secret coins hidden within all the official levels, and three require a previous level to be completed. There are 26 official levels in the full version of Geometry Dash, 20 of which are unlocked upon installation. Furthermore, pads and orbs can be used to move the player in varying directions or change gravity. Player movement is further complicated by portals that allow the player to change between seven game modes, reverse gravity, change the size of their icon, mirror the direction of their movement, change their speed, or teleport. The player's icon takes the form of one of eight different game modes, each of which behaves differently with each interaction. The timing and rhythm of the in-game music are key parts of the game, often in relation to each other. There is a "practice mode" in which a player may place checkpoints to survey or practice a level, but is unable to collect coins or gain progress for normal mode. If the player crashes into an obstacle, such as a spike, a wall, or a sawblade, the level restarts. The player manipulates the movement of their icon through input in the form of pressing or holding to reach the end of a level. Gameplay The beginning of 'Electroman Adventures', the 13th of 22 levels in the game and currently the fourth to last level of Geometry Dash LiteĪs a single-button game, Geometry Dash can be played with a touchscreen, keyboard, mouse, or controller. Three other spin-off games in the series have been made: Geometry Dash Meltdown, Geometry Dash World, and Geometry Dash SubZero. In-game currency, such as stars, moons, coins, orbs or diamonds, can be obtained from various sources, such as levels, user-created levels or chests. In addition to the game's own levels, certain user-created levels have been featured as in-game content. It has a level creation system, where players can create their own custom levels, share them online, and play levels designed by other players. Geometry Dash consists of 26 full-length levels made by its developer, RobTopGames 22 are auto-scrolling, and 4 are "platformer" levels. In Geometry Dash, players control the movement of an icon and navigate music-based levels, while avoiding obstacles such as spikes. The game was released on 13 August 2013 on iOS and Android, and the Windows version on 22 December 2014. Geometry Dash is a side-scrolling music platforming game series based on The Impossible Game by FlukeGames developed by Robert Topala. And, still, I wouldn't consider Mozilla as an alternative as they are in the game too.Explore, connect and share your interests with real people. Or in other words Blink and WebKit engines. Leaving, as I said above, Microsoft and Mozilla to just follow the trend trying to being an "alternative" (in case of Edge, as it uses the same Chrome engine, is not an alternative) of the, now, king: Chrome. Those who control the route web and browser are taking is on Google/Chrome/Android and Apple/Safari/iOS-Mac, as they have been pushing how the web must look, specially on mobile devices, in the living standard and what the browsers must offer. Microsoft here has the same role as Mozilla, just a follower of the trends, as Edge uses Chrome engine, so. I've concluded that there is no browser which does it all without slowing down my Linux PC to a crawl - hence the sort of collection of them which I use presently.Īs Chrome/big G & M$ grab more & more of this area though, these things can very easily change overnight & with no warnings at all.Įdited 1 time(s). Yes - there are a few sites which simply -demand- a Chrome back-end, for which I reluctantly open ungoogled Chromium.briefly. My most used browser now is the Linux version of Basillisk, which is about 90% great for me right now and I'm very happy with being able to use Classic Add-ons archive with it.įor my fast & light needs I still use & prefer an older w32 version of Mypal because it is so good that way !!įor ALL videos I may wish to view I use Librewolf from its APPIMAGE file, which is very slick & actually surprisingly easy on resource usage as well. I have BNavigator, but seldom use it, though I do enjoy its classic looks. It turned out to be a terrible resource hog that only got worse & worse as it was used, so it got removed. If honesty were employed - poor old (but in reality dead) FF should now be called ChromeFox (or even GoogleFox) - 'cuz that IS what it has become already, using Chrome extensions, etc.īack to Seamonkey, I desperately desired for it to be the solution for at least the browser functions of it under Linux, and I even tried using its email portion, BUT=> makes me dizzy, thinking of that workload for the maintainers! and for each version also single langpacks to download, equally split for different OS again. and each in dozens of languages, all separate downloads. There must be dozens, if not hundred, of every single version?! For win32, win64, Mac, Linux. Also checked the FAQ, and nowhere any word about "portable" to be found.īut to me as a KM-user, used to get only single releases, and knowing the Seamonkey folks have extremely limited manpower too, this multitude of download links is mindblowing: Or perhaps it's something different? But if it's portable, it's really well hidden. That is, if "zip" really means "portable" here? Just an assumption, but strange that it's 20% bigger as the installer-version, hmm. One has to inspect the single archive folders and stumble across a "zip" e.g. but without this clear info, it's really very hard to figure out! Quote JohnHell It is portable!!! For the very first version it always has been portable, or has had got a portable option, as you prefer: Meanwhile I can finally find the archived dates and URLs myself, without JS (thanks to url-parameters and cdx), but how to find specific answers to KM-problems inside this pile of URLs?Įdited 1 time(s). But how long yet, if Seamonkey now dies too.īy the way mozillazine must also close, after some 20 years, another extremely valuable resource.īut at least its admin plans to keep the site public, as a static, frozen archive.Īnd whenever a site goes down everyone places all hopes in the wayback archive, but have lately realized: without a powerful search engine that's rather useless too! At least for sites like this forum here. Those of the FF addons which were also compatible with Seamonkey or Thunderbird, were not deleted by Mozilla, they are still there. What's additionally worrying me about this is the addons archive on AMO. The posting above sounds hopeful, but on the other hand have recently read that it's more and more dying too, due to losing devs (always were just a few, in spare time, and meanwhile almost just 1 left), and also due to Mozilla's removal of all the engine bridges for forks. Regarding Seamonkey, have not much hope either. Browser, Operating System, Search engine, Videos, Mail and Doc services, cloud hosting etc., no escape. They have become absolutely almighty by now, and in various fields. Today the situation is much worse as in days of IE6, nothing will be able to replace Google anymore. the graveyard keeps filling, and the downhill path will not end anytime soon |
